Quaker Wedding Certificates 2008

The certificates you will see below are just a few of the certificates I did in 2008. Most of these certificates are 22"x 30". For prices, see the Quaker Wedding Certificate Prices Page. Most of these pictures show only the top part of the certificate. The empty area for the signatures was cropped in order to concentrate on the top part.

Jessica and Justin wanted their certificate to be a little different. They had a verse from first Corinthians with an arch of flowers around it then their names and wedding date.

Here's a closeup of the spray of flowers

Ingrid and Geoffrey asked for a footless omega; more of a horseshoe. Their flowers included columbines, black-eyed Susans, daisies, blue asters, yellow roses and forget-me-nots. The paper was 22" x 30".

Kelly and Jeffrey asked for a floral circle with the heart knot at the top. They also desired a bluebird, a dragonfly, a wooden cross, wheat, a terrapin, sunflowers, black-eyed susans, delphiniums, forget-me-nots, harebells, daisies, irises, asters, lupines and ferns. We managed to get it all in and still have a balanced design.

This certificate was done on Pergamenata parchment and was approximately 30" x 40".

Many times we get requests to illustrate the certificate with a picture of the wedding's location. This couple wanted to show the art work that decorated the inside of the chapel where they held their ceremony. Below are two of the photos they sent to show the artwork in the chapel.

Here is the finished certificate with a picture depicting the decoration across the top and down each side.

Below are some close ups.

Below, Kristen and Edgar wanted a variation of the map certificate. Their names and vows are surrounded by the scroll type frame seen on old maps.

A number of cities have been added to the map. These show where their families originated. This was done on Pergamenata parchment and was approximately 30" x 40".

Donna and John wanted the craftsman style decoration but with the uncial style of lettering.

Above is a detail of the uncial lettering.

Amanda and Joel wanted the floral arch and spray with lupins. harebells, daisies and iris. They also wanted a small spray between their signatures and above their guests signatures. A larger spray finishes the bottom of the certificate. See details below.

Sarah and David wanted their certificate to have sunflowers, forget-me-nots, cone flowers, black-eyed Susans and delphinium.

Rory and Roy had an artist design a special logo for their wedding. That's it in the red and yellow circle at the top of their certificate. Below is the detail. In the center is the sun with the face of a lion. To the right of the lion is a blue crescent moon. Around the sun and moon are leaves representing the four seasons, dragonflies and acorns.

From the bride and groom:

"SYMBOLOGY:
Ivy leaves point the four directions, enveloped by a
fiery ouroboros with a flourish of oak leaves and
dragonflies, symbolizing earth, a stabilizing backdrop
for air, free and open communications.
This circle of life, at it's core, is the hot lion sun
and cool organic moon representing Tod and Rory, exude
and absorb, surrounded by swirls of wind and water,
day and night, entwined for eternity."

From Steve at Calligraphica:

I colored the logo like the four seasons. The snow flakes were added next to the Winter part of the logo and the bee is next to the Spring part. The snake is red and yellow to represent the flames. The Ouroboros is an old symbol in Alchemy usually shown red and yellow in the old manuscripts. I liked how the sun became the lion. Alchemy manuscripts show the sun being eaten by a lion. I enjoyed working on this one! I also would like to mention the artist and thanks to the artist and bride and groom for their very kind permission to share this special artwork on our website.

Here is the e-mail address for Paige Bauer, who designed the logo.
